PSA/VPSA Technology

Pressure swing adsorption (PSA) is a common method for purifying hydrogen in a refinery by removing other hydrocarbon gases. The PSA unit uses a molecular sieve to adsorb hydrocarbons other than hydrogen, resulting in a purified hydrogen stream. Vacuum Pressure Swing Adsorption (VPSA) is an advanced gas separation technology that utilizes the different selectivity of adsorbents for gas molecules to separate gas components. Membrane Technology

The membrane technology-based gas mixture separation utilizes the difference in partial pressures on the external and internal surfaces of a hollow-fiber membrane. Highly permeating gasses (e.g., H2, CO2, O2, water vapors, higher hydrocarbons) penetrate the fibers and exit the membrane cartridge through one of the pipes.
